Petite Negri Fig

Ficus carica ‘Petite Negra’

This “little black” fig packs a big punch! Able to start producing fruit when less than 12 inches tall, Petite Negri is a natural dwarf that only grows to 4-6 feet at maturity. Will produce 2 crops in warm locations; the beautiful dark fruits have a wine-red interior and a fantastic, richly sweet flavor. Very similar to Violette de Bordeaux, but slightly earlier to ripen and more dwarfing form.

Well-suited to pots or planted in-ground in warm zones, they can also be grown in pots planted 3/4 into the ground in lower zones, then sever the roots that have escaped into the surrounding soil and lift the pots for storage in a lightly heated greenhouse or enclosed porch. Leaves will drop in winter, then bring the pot outdoors and let it settle into the previous years’ hole and enjoy the summer outside!
