Bungo Flowering Apricot

Prunus mume ‘Bungo’

A beautiful flowering apricot, from the Bungo region of Japan, which has fragrant, long-lasting white flowers showing the softest pink blush in earliest spring. The fruit which follows is up to 2″ in diameter and is used in Asian delicacies such as plum sauce and umeboshi (salt plums).

Use another P. mume for cross pollination and better fruit set. Bungo is a beautiful ornamental that often blooms too early in maritime climates and doesn’t set a crop. It’s also wonderful for providing forage for early pollinators.
