Camellia sinensis var. rubra ‘Blushing Maiden’
The tea camellia is a plant native to China and Southeast Asia; the black and green teas made from the leaves have been consumed by humans for thousands of years. Today, tea is the second most-consumed beverage in the world! This evergreen bush makes a great addition to partial shade in hot regions, or full sun in cooler summer locations, and the simple blooms brighten up the landscape in fall. New leaves can be harvested spring and fall, dried and/or fermented, and used as the classic beverage.

Blushing Maiden, a sport of Rosea introduced by Piroche Plants back in 1992, is similar to the more widely available variety Tea Breeze, except the flowers are a pretty medium pink color, and it is slightly more hardy than most tea varieties.

Plants prefer rich, slightly moist, acidic soils to perform their best.

Hardy to USDA Zone: 6b

Mature Height:  6′-8′ x 3′-5′(Medium)

Sun: Partial Shade

Ripening Time: N/A
